Jenny Collins' Obituary
Jenny Marie Collins, age 80 of Centerville, Iowa, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Corydon Specialty Care, Corydon, Iowa.
She was born on July 5, 1936 in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Peter and Santina (Metra) LaPaglia. Jenny was united in marriage to William 'Bill' LaVerne Carter on June 27, 1955 at St. Edward's in Rockford, Illinois. To this union of marriage, four children were born, Tina, Rick, Theresa, and Cheri. They later divorced. Jenny was later married to Kenneth Collins and to this union of marriage, a son was born, Kenneth Collins Jr. The couple later divorced.
Following the family's relocation from Illinois to Centerville, Iowa, Jenny operated a day care business out of her home for twenty one years. She later worked in the manufacturing industry in Centerville for many years, including McGraw-Edison and Rubbermaid.
In her later years, she worked in housekeeping with her daughter, Cheri.
Jenny had many hobbies throughout her life, including dancing, cleaning, shopping and going out to dinner. Most importantly, she cherished the time she spent with her family.
She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville.
Jenny is survived by her five children, Tina (Rod) Williamson of Albia, Rick Carter of Centerville, Theresa (the Late Kory) Bragg of Harvey, Cheri (the Late Bill) McDonald of Centerville, and Kenny Collins Jr. of Centerville; as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; three brothers, P.J. LaPaglia, Paul LaPaglia, and Joseph LaPaglia; a sister, Pauline Weishaar; a half brother, Carl LaPaglia; three half sisters, Mary Manna, Josephine Carducci, and Marjorie Pantaleo; a half sister, Mary Hough; and a half brother, John Chiovaro.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 AM, Friday, December 16, 2016 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Father Bill Hubmann officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Centerville. A visitation will take place on Friday, December 16, 2016 at Lange Funeral Home, with the family greeting friends from 10-11 AM.
