Jennifer Lynne Appler's Obituary
Jennifer Lynne Appler, age 58, of Bloomfield, formerly of Centerville, passed away Monday, September 16, 2024 at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines.
Jennifer was born on August 16, 1966 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, the daughter of Ray and Linda (Gies) Miller. She graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1984. Jennifer attended the University of Iowa, was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority, and graduated in 1988. She was united in marriage on September 3, 1988 to Brad Appler, and they were blessed with two children, Joe and Katie.
After college, Jennifer ran Allen's Card & Gift on the Centerville Square, which later became The Attic. Jennifer also worked for the Centerville School District for many years as an Administrative Assistant. She later accepted a position as an Executive Assistant to the Vice President at Indian Hills Community College. Jennifer was very passionate about helping her customers and students. She had a kind and caring soul, and everyone will remember her beautiful smile.
Jennifer loved being outside: whether it was boating at Lake Rathbun, taking walks with her dog, Abby, or simply soaking up the sun. Jennifer was a lifelong Iowa Hawkeyes fan and wouldn't miss watching a football game or a wrestling match. The family vacations that Jennifer organized over the years created a lifetime of memories that her family can continue to laugh and tell stories about. Jennifer was the rock of her family, a centerpiece of strength and support to those around her. Her favorite moments were spent with her family, especially playing with her grandson, Callahan.
Left to cherish Jennifer's memory are her husband, Brad Appler; her mother, Linda Miller; her children, Joe (Skyler) Appler and Katie (Will) Kincart; her grandson, Callahan Kincart; her brother, Mike Miller (Kim Stonehouse); her niece, Kennedy Miller (Tye Robbins); her aunt, Karen Miller; as well as several extended family and friends.
Jennifer was preceded in death by her father, Ray Miller; her father-in-law, Pierce Appler; and her mother-in-law, Barbara (Kirby) Appler.
