Jean Ann Woods' Obituary
Jean Ann (Dyer) Woods, age 64, wife of John Woods, of Melrose, Iowa, went home at 9:41PM Monday, December 30, 2013 at Mercy Hospital, Des Moines, Iowa.
She was born December 13, 1949 at Yocum Hospital in Chariton, Iowa, the daughter of Coy and Betty (Corder) Dyer. Jean married John Woods August 4, 1967 in Chariton, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Monika Woods of Carrollton, MO and Terry (Melissa) Woods of Norwalk, Iowa. Jean is also survived by five grandkids, Brandi, Beth, Zane, Cierra and Saige; three great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Allen and Isaak; and two very special companions, Shotzie and Sassy. She is also survived by 6 siblings, Diana (Ron) Paige of Burlington, Iowa, Carol Foust of Burlington, Paul Dyer of Topeka, Kansas, Larry (Lisa) Dyer of Chariton, MaDonna Dyer of Derby , Iowa and Connie Cavin of Knoxville, Iowa.
Jean always enjoyed talking and caring for the elderly. She worked her way up from a nurse's aid to the office manager at Home Health Care and Hospice at Mercy in Des Moines for 11 years.
She enjoyed quality time with her best friend and husband, her family, church, camping, boating, crocheting, NASCAR (Tony Stewart). She also enjoyed cooking/baking, looking for new recipes, mowing and gardening.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Friday, January 3, 2014 at the Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene in Moravia with Pastor Terry Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in the Chariton Cemetery in Chariton, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 1-8PM Thursday at Lange Funeral Home in Moravia, with the family present from 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions have been established to The Alabaster Offering-""A Missions Offering,"" and may be given to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
