Jean Eleanor Thomas, age 90 of Centerville, Iowa died on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa. She was born the daughter of John and Nellie (Kitts) Burkitt on April 9, 1921 in Kansas City, Missouri. She received her education in a Kansas City Community School.On January 7, 1947, Jean was united in marriage to Arthur G. Thomas, Sr. She was a homemaker.She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Arthur G. Thomas, Sr. on July 4, 1976; Son, Arthur Grant Thomas, Jr. on January 11, 1999; grandchildren, Todd Charles Thomas and Troy Joe Smith; and four brothers.Jean is survived by: her sons, Billy Thomas and his wife, Kelly of Centerville, Iowa and Charles Thomas and his wife, Sandi of Moravia, Iowa; daughters, Nellie Thomas of Centerville, Iowa, Joyce Smith and her husband, Jerry of Unionville, Missouri, Shirley Morlan and her husband, Rick of Centerville, Iowa and Mary VanderEcken of Harrisonville, Missouri; twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.Private graveside services will be on Friday, September 23, 2011 at the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville with Rev. Christopher Wattlet officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery.
