Jean Clark's Obituary
Marilyn "Jean" (Hoover) Clark, age 83, passed away on April 18, 2025 at her home unexpectedly.
Jean was born on June 21, 1941 in Centerville, Iowa, to Ray and Glenice (Horn) Hoover. She graduated from Centerville High School with the class of 1959. July 2, 1961 Jean married fellow classmate, Donald E Clark. To this union two children were born, Donna Jean and Robert Ray. Over the years, Jean worked at ISU, McGraw Edison and for many years at the Daily Iowegian in the circulation department, eventually becoming Circulation Manager.
Throughout her life, Jean showed her very strong faith in many ways. She was a counselor for New Hope, was missionary chair at the First Baptist Church, and enjoyed spending time with her friends at Bible study. She was really good at dominos and pinochle. She was an avid 10- point pitch player. She despised cheaters and was known to have grabbed a man bigger and taller than her by the shirt collar and put him out the door. She was a kind soul who loved her family and friends very much.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Donna (Nyle) Cox; grandchildren Ben (Kristi) Ritter, Shannon Ritter (Scott Kaster), Mitzi (Mike) Kinsler, David (Jess) Cox, Bailee Cox, Maddison Cox, Hunter Cox, and Britian Cox (Brynn Wells) ; great-grandchildren Shelbi and Peyton Ritter, Jesse (Haven) Wells, Chad Stice, Joseph Kinsler, Deacon, Drake and Jubilee Cox, Ryker Cardani, Kyson Cox, Indie Cox, and Kydon and Maverick Kaster; one great-great grandson, Jaxson Wells; a sister-in-law Roberta (Hubert)Jones; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Don Clark, her son, Bob Clark, and her parents.
Per wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11AM Saturday, April 26, 2025 at the First Baptist Church in Centerville. Visitation will take place from 10:00AM - 11:00AM at the First Baptist Church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church and may be mailed to Thomas Funeral Home, ATTN: Clark Family, 501 North 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
