Jay Wilson's Obituary
Jay Wilson, 73, of Floris, Iowa passed away Friday, January 20, 2017 at the Iowa City VA Healthcare Center. Jay was born to Dale & Inez (Wignall) Wilson on April 16, 1943 in Albia, Iowa. He received his education from Moravia High School graduating in 1961. Jay was a veteran of the United States Navy. He enlisted in June 1961 and was released with an honorable medical discharge on July 1962. On March 31, 1963, Jay was united in marriage to the love of his life; Mary Ruth Pace at the Moravia Grace United Methodist Church two months after their first date. Jay was employed with Kartridg Pac Company for 10 years. He would later make a career change and become an Animal Health Salesman. Jay truly found his calling accepting a position in the animal health industry, it became his passion. Jay enjoyed listening to Rush Limbaugh, going on camping trips with his family, watching Gunsmoke and spending time with his grandchildren. He was never one to sit still, he was always up moving around tinkering on an electric problem or woodworking to beautify his home. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mary Wilson of Floris, two children; Dale Wilson of Gulf Breeze, Florida, Toni Pruett (Steve) of Coal Valley, Illinois, five grandchildren: Jacob and Joshua Wilson, Quin, Kyra and Chloe Pruett. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with Rev. Reg Higginbottom officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior from 2-3 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family, which will be designated at a later date and condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com.
