Jarrett Lee Carson's Obituary
Jarrett Lee Carson, 87, of Centerville, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024 at Centerville Specialty Care surrounded by his family.
Lee was born to Una Belle (Cotton) Carson and Jarrett Brandon Carson on December 11, 1936 in Unionville, Missouri. He graduated from Unionville High School in 1955. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served three years as a jet mechanic. Lee married Shirley Heck on February 1, 1959 at the Grace Tabernacle Baptist Church with Rev. Hugh Sawyer officiating. They just celebrated 65 years together. To this union, five children were born, Tommy (Sheila), Robert (Jane), Shawn (Kristen), Darrin (Sonja) and Leanne (Scott).
Lee worked various jobs; Appanoose County, J&L Nutrena Feed Store, Kent Feed Store, Empire Gas Company, MFA Gas Company, and he drove a school bus in Centerville for 18 years-a job he thoroughly enjoyed.
He was fond of going to McDonald's for coffee with his friends, going to local country music shows with Shirley, going on car rides, watching his grandkids' sporting events, gardening, woodworking, and farming. Lee was proud to be a born-again Christian. He was a loving husband, Dad, and Grandpa. We will miss him.
Left to honor Lee's memory are his wife, Shirley Carson; his five children, Tommy (Sheila), Robert, Shawn (Kristen), Darrin (Sonja), and Leanne (Scott); his grandchildren, Paige (Josh) Seddon, Taren (Mason) Whisler, Brock (Janee) Carson, Elaina (Aaron) Fuduloff, Madison (Austin) Ross, Drake Ledger, Parker Carson, Zachary Carson, Teddy Carson, Grady (Jessie) Carson, Gage (Jaicee) Carson, Grant Carson and Carson Mulcahy; great grandchildren, Ty, Bode & Lauren Seddon, Kirra, Dylan & Drew Whisler, Presley, Kaleha, Emmett, and Everleigh Carson, Payton Fuduloff, Hadley Ross, Nash Carson and Knox Carson; his sisters, Anna Morris, Judy Hopkins, and Roberta (Robert) Brown; as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Una Belle and Jarrett Brandon Carson; his sisters, Gladys Demry and Mae Bunnell; his brother, Jim (Kathy) Carson; his sister-in-law, Marilee (Tom) Bratz; his brothers-in-law, John Hopkins and Henry Morris; and his daughter-in-law, Jane Carson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30PM Friday, March 8, 2024 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with Pastor Adam Standley officiating. Burial will follow the service at Oakland Cemetery in Centerville with military rites. Visitation will take place Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with the family greeting friends from 5:00PM-7:00PM.
