Janie L. Ballanger's Obituary
Janie Ballanger age 72 of Coatsville, Missouri, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2017 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Janie was born on February 11, 1944 in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the daughter of LaVerne and Mona Howard. She graduated from Moulton Udell High School, class of 1962.
She was a homemaker for most of her life. She also taught cosmetology in New Mexico for a brief period in her life. She was a mechanic working on lawn mowers at her dad's shop for many years as well. She never wanted anything for herself. Her children and grandchildren always came first. One of her biggest joys in life, was working in her yard, and flowers.
Janie is survived by her husband, Colin, daughter, Korina Hurley (Jeff Brown); sons, Mark (Margrit) Ballanger, and Timothy Ballanger; siblings, Harold (Elaine) Howard, Evelyn Lewin, Dennis (Theresa) Howard; eight grandchildren, Christa Ryan, Brandon (Rebekah) Ballanger, Aaron (Whitney) Ballanger, Andrew Hurley, Steven (Amber) Tracy, Justin (Tabby) Tracy, Christopher (Cortney) Schoonover, Zachary (Kendra) Schoonover; fifteen great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, LaVerne and Mona Howard; a son, David Ballanger; a brother, Robert E. Howard; and a sister, Betty Harvey.
A visitation will take place on Thursday, January 26, 2017 from 11-12:30. Funeral Services will be held at 12:30PM Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville, Iowa with Reverend Jerry Weller officiating. A memorial has been established to the Zoar Church or the Schuyler County Cancer Relief Fund and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
