Janet Stevens' Obituary
Janet Stevens, 57, of Centerville passed away Thursday, December 15, 2016 at her home. Janet was born to Winston and Lorene (Lepley) Pace on July 18, 1959 in Centerville. She received her education from Moulton High School. Janet would further her education graduating from Buena Vista University with a degree in Education. On September 1, 1979, Janet was united in marriage to Mike Stevens in Moulton. Janet enjoyed coaching a variety of sports, umpiring, playing softball, camping, traveling, quilting, spending time with her family, and being a spectator for her granddaughters activities. Janet also loved her two dogs, Minnie and Daisy. Survivors include her husband Mike of Centerville, two children: Devon Hesler (John) of Burlington, Heath Stevens of Des Moines, step-daughter, Stacy Arnold (Scott) of Centerville, granddaughter, Aubrey Hesler of Burlington, step-grandsons, Dylan Oehler of Centerville, Cameron Oehler of Centerville, seven sisters: Wandah Selvy of Lovilia, Iowa, Mary Wilson (Jay) of Floris, Iowa, Judy Stevenson of Moulton, Iowa, Thressa Robinson (Jim) of Centerville, Linda Chance (Bobby) of Lovilia, Iowa, Connie Gillaspie (Jody) of Moravia, Lucy Elswick (Ronnie) of Albia, Iowa, brother, Winston Pace (Vicki) of Udell and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers-in-law, Robert Selvy, Oren Stevenson and Lee Spurgeon. Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m., Monday, December 19, 2016 at Simon Estes Auditorium in Centerville High School, CHS Drive - Centerville, Iowa 52544 with Rev. Brian Hargrave officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Haines Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12-3 p.m., Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Thomas Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Janet Stevens Athletic Scholarship or the Heartland Humane Society and condolences may be shared at wwwthomasfh.com.
