James "Jimmy" Walker's Obituary
James 'Jimmy' Walker, age 60, of Rathbun, Iowa, died Thursday, October 5, 2006, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa after a courageous battle with Cancer. He was born the son of George and Marion (Richardson) Walker on June 11, 1946 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He graduated from the Wildwood High School in Wildwood, New Jersey.On October 30, 1964, Jimmy entered the US Army and served his country in the Vietnam Conflict until his honorable discharge on October 7, 1967. On March 10, 1978, Jimmy was united in marriage to Debra 'Jane' Thomas in Phoenix, Arizona. His working career mainly consisted of Union Carpentry for Local Union #106 in Des Moines, Iowa. He left is mark on the city of Des Moines as Foreman of the Principal Building, Des Moines Wastewater Treatment Plant and the Wells Fargo Financial Project. He also built many custom homes and also completed many projects for family and friends. In 1996, he went another direction and was proud to be a construction manager in the wireless communications business. This work took him from Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, North Dakota and many other places. He made so many good lasting friendships with his co-workers that some became family to him. Jimmy was a man that was deeply loved and respected by his family and friends. His wife, Jane, was honored to share their life for over 28 years. She and Maggie adored and loved his deeply.He was preceded in death by: his father, George Walker.Jimmy is survived by: his wife, Debra 'Jane' Walker of Rathbun, Iowa; daughter, Magdelana May Catherine Walker of Rathbun, Iowa; sons, James G. Walker, Jr. of Levittown, Pennsylvania and Jason Walker of Pompano Beach, Florida; his mother, Marion Koltun of Levittown, Pennsylvania; one Sister, Deborah Simons of Hulmeville, Pennsylvania; three brothers, Charles Walker of Levittown, Pennsylvania, Michael Walker of Mystic, Iowa and Thomas Walker of Highlands, New Jersey; and three grandchildren.Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2006 at 1 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with his brother, Thomas Walker giving the Eulogy.
