James Terry's Obituary
James Terry, 76, of Centerville, Iowa, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family and friends on July 20, 2014. James was born in Centerville to Orville and Lillie (Baughman) Terry on December 14, 1937. He was born the last of eight children. He finished his education at Centerville High School and pursued a career as a carpenter. James served his country as a member of the United States Army. On February 10, 1989, he married Marilyn Willey in Las Vegas. They raised all eight of their children in Centerville. James loved the outdoors where he enjoyed both hunting and fishing. He also liked gardening, playing cards and spending time with his grandkids and family. James was a member of the Cincinnati Church of Christ and Carpenters Union #106. James is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Centerville; seven children, Darrin (Jessica) Terry of Cincinnati, IA, Debbie Burkes of Licking, MO, Tony (Sue) Rider of Knoxville, IA, Karen (Paul) Hood of Licking, MO, Debra Hornaday (Paul) of Bloomfield, IA, Rhonda (Walt) Spiker of Centerville, Connie (Roger) Shiltz of Rathbun, IA; 19 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; sister, Charlotte (Jim) Haygreen of Manning, SC; sisters in law, Ava Darlene Terry of Pekin, IL and Kay Van Wyk of Des Moines, IA; brother in law, Lloyd Thomasson of Newton, IA and many cousins, nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Menkin; grandson, Tyler Terry, six brothers; Max, Edwin, Bernard, Charles, Paul and Robert Terry and sister in law, Marsha Thomasson. Funeral Service for James will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the Cincinnati Church of Christ with Eric Hoover officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
