James Seddon's Obituary
James Seddon, age 65 of Centerville died Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Mercy Medical Centerville, Iowa. He was born July 29, 1946 in Ames and was the son of Robert and Jean Seddon of Cincinnati. He graduated in Centerville High School in 1965 and married Patricia Budeslich on August 13, 1968. After graduation he worked at International Harvester in Moline, Illinois before joining the US Air Force. Jim was a Master Mechanic and Surveillance Expert and served in the Vietnam War where he received the Vietnam Service Medal, as well as the Republic of Vietnam Capaig Campaign Medal. After leaving the Air Force in 1977, Jim moved his family back to Centerville. His book, Morning Glories Among the Peas, was published in 1990 and recounted his war experiences in Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. His book was used as course material in several universities in classes regarding the Vietnam War. At the time of his death, he was working on his latest novel, Five Sons Rising. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patty and his mother, Jean. He is survived by two daughters, Shelley, of Sydney, Australia and Heather Belloma of Centerville; four grandchildren; Peyton and Payne Kauffman, and Bennie and Colton Belloma, all of Centerville. Jim was a proud veteran and a memorial fund has been established for the Veteran's Administration Recovery Services Donations may be left or mailed to the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, P.O. Box 6, Centerville, Iowa, 52544. In lieu of a funeral, the family will host a gathering at the Cincinnati Community Center on Saturday, January 21 from 2-4 pm. All friends and family are welcome to attend.
