James Seddon's Obituary
James (Zeck) Seddon, age 89, of Mystic, IA died Sunday October 24, 2004 at Mercy Medical Center, Centerville. He was born September 30, 1915 in Mystic, the son of James Sr. and Anna (Wools) Seddon. Zeck graduated from Mystic High School in 1933. James worked in several coalmines in the Appanoose County area. During the war, James, Marge and family moved to Detroit, where he worked at Vickers Airplane factory. Later, James, Marge and the family moved back to Mystic where he continued working in the coalmines for a total of 29 years. After the coalmines slowed down, he worked on construction in the Tri City area for 19 years. James was the caretaker of Highland Cemetery for several years and raising a large garden. James is survived by seven children, Nyla Free and her husband Jim of Rockford, Il., Jim Seddon and his wife Nancy of Mystic, Richard Seddon and his wife Carol of Mystic, Etta Smith and her husband Neal of Mystic, Donna Nikolosus and her husband Jim of Mystic, Joe Seddon and his wife Vickie of LeClaire, Iowa, Clyde Seddon and his wife Rose of Mystic; 25 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren, brothers Paul and Willard Seddon of Mystic, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret, two sons, Gerald (Buck) and Bobby Paul, two grandchildren and four great grandchildren, Four sisters, Edith Porter, Mae Massey, Evelyn Padavich and Bernice Balow. From the time James was a young man he loved to hunt, fish and trap. He enjoyed playing his guitar, his children and grandchildren loved listening to him. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home with Pastor Davin Kaster officiating. Friends may call all day Tuesday with the family present from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery, Mystic, A memorial has been established to Highland Cemetery Assoc. or the Mystic 1st Responders and may be left or mailed to the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, PO Box 6, Centerville, IA, 52544.
