James Lee Poffenberger's Obituary
James Lee Poffenberger, age 67, of Centerville, Iowa, died Thursday, June 8, 2006, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born the son of Charles and Venetah (Parsons) Poffenberger on September 29, 1938 in Centerville, Iowa. He graduated from the Centerville Community Schools in 1958.On June 19, 1965, Jim was united in marriage to Susan Harvey in Missouri. He served his country November 1, 1961 until his honorable discharge on September 30, 1967 with the United States Army. Jim worked for over 36 years for the Viskase Corporation here in Centerville.He was preceded in death by: his father, Charles Poffenberger on December 8, 1967, and his son, Charles 'Chip' Poffenberger on February 25, 1995.Jim is survived by: his wife, Susan Poffenberger, and his mother, Venetah Poffenberger both of Centerville; a sister-in-law, Claudia and her husband, Larry South of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at 10 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Dianne Christopher officiating. Burial will full military honors by the Centerville Area Veterans will follow at the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville.
