James Junior Pershy's Obituary
James Pershy Jr (Jimbo), 70 of Seymour, Iowa passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at his home.
James was born September 15, 1953 to Jim Jasper Pershy and Margaret Veronica Schaefer in Centerville, Iowa. James graduated from Seymour High School in 1971, where he was All Conference in track and football- it was said he could run like a deer.
After Graduation, James went straight to work. He helped his father, James Senior, who established Pershy Roofing and Painting in 1961. During the winter months to make ends meet, James would hunt and trap. In 1981, Jimbo as they called him started driving a school bus for Seymour Community School District. He drove that bus for over 40 years and loved every minute.
In his free time, Jimbo loved mushroom hunting and fishing. Whether it was coon pelts, hooking crappie or even getting after Tysons crew, Jimbo loved being outdoors. Go Hawk's was his Saturday ritual, with a Busch Light in his hand at either Tyson's or Truett's. Jimbo talked fast and loved family time along with working.
James is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Margaret Pershy.
Left to honor his memory are his two siblings, Jack and Jane Pershy and Rusty and Joann Hunter; his four kids, Tyson and Jeri Pershy, Tanya Pershy Seddon, Teather and Andy Ingold, and Truett and Sheena Pershy; along with grandchildren, Riley, Mackenzie, Savannah, Chase, Skyler, Dylan, Makenna, London, Teagan, Ellasen, Zayden, Kiana, Kyree and Kolston; great grandchildren, Kash, Hadley, Tate, Scout, Sully, Enzo, Layla and Pearl; along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at the Seymour High School. Interment will immediately follow at Southlawn Cemetery.
