James H. "Jim" Reed Obituary's Obituary
James H. Reed, son of Fred W. and Esta Smith Reed was born October 20, 1936 in Harvard, Iowa and passed away at the Legacy Lodge Hospice in Chariton on September 6, 2011 at the age of 74 years, 10 months, and 17 days after a long battle with COPD emphysema and lung cancer. Jim spent his entire life in Jackson Township. He got his elementary education in Center and Clark Schools. He graduated from Corydon High School in 1955. He attended Northeast Missouri State College at Kirksville for 1 year and returned to farm the home place with his brother-in-law Don Warren. He married Sandra Besco on July 19, 1958. To this union three children were born: Debra Louise, Charles William, and Fred Donald. Jim looked forward to the planting season and then the harvest, but especially feeding cattle. Spring was also crappie fishing season and fall a coon hunt with a favorite hound. He always found time for his kid's activities and followed the grandkids as well. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Esta, sister Erma Warren and eldest son Charles William. He is survived by his wife Sandy, daughter Deb McDannald and Kevin of Corydon, son Fred and Lori of Humeston, four grandsons Jake Reed and Ashley of Allerton, Brett McDannald and friend Allie of Grimes, Dylan Reed of Ames, and Dalton Reed of Humeston, two step granddaughters Tynne and David Sulser and Jill and Don Mott of Raymore, Missouri, 6 great grandchildren Kreighton and Lilly Reed of Allerton, Sloan and Mason Sulser of Seymour, and Coleson and Sawyer Mott of Raymore, Missouri. Other survivors include brothers-in-law Don Warren of Albia, Roy and Sue Besco of Longview, Washington, Fred and Kathy Besco of Ft.
