James William Martin's Obituary
James "Jimmie" William Martin, age 83, of Plano, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
Jimmie was born on May 10, 1941, in Centerville, Iowa, the son of William John Martin and Lois Ethel (Goodell) Martin. He graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1959. He was united in marriage to Judy Lorraine Shinn on December 15, 1962.
Jimmie worked as a farmer throughout his life. He was also heavily involved in the Seymour First Baptist Church and their activities. In his free time, Jimmie enjoyed things such as water skiing, boating, woodworking and hunting-especially following his fox hounds in his younger years.
Left to honor Jimmie's memory are his wife of over 61 years, Judy Martin; his brothers-in-law, Wayne (Kathy) Shinn and Harry Daugherty; his sister-in-law, Carol Martin; as well as several extended family members.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lois Martin; his sister, Carol Daugherty and his brother, Edwin Martin.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Monday, June 10, 2024 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with Pastor Micaiah Stanley officiating. Burial will follow the service at Brushy Cemetery near Plano. Visitation will take place Monday, June 10, 2024 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with the family greeting friends from 10:00-11:00AM.
