James Logston Sr.'s Obituary
James Edwin Logston, Sr. passed away on October 16, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 78. Jim was born on March 19, 1939 in Cincinnati, Iowa to the late Orville and Pearl (Rucker) Logston. After graduating high school, Jim married Lillie Seyler in Davenport, Iowa on April 15, 1961. He worked in Rock Island, Illinois as a foreman at Farmall Manufacturing for several years before succumbing to an injury that forced him into retirement. The couple then moved back to Cincinnati. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed gardening, fishing, watching wildlife and spending time with his family and friends. Jim is survived by his children: Judy (Jon) McDonald, Patty (Shane) Conger, Jimmy Logston and Chris Logston (companion, Paula Crow) ; former daughter in law, Jana Logston; brothers: Lawrence (Patty) Logston and Robert "Bobby" (Rosemary) Logston; sister, Betty (Dean) Dawson; grandchildren: Jason (Ashley) McGrann, Jordanna McGrann, Jayna McGrann, Chad (Heather) Conger, Kyle Conger, Emilie Harwell and Mallory Logston. He is also survived by three great grandchildren: Mason McGrann and Kenzie and Kendra Conger. Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lillie in 2013; sister, Margaret McClure and brother in law, Dick McClure. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Interment will take place at a later date.
