James "Jim" Lee Kluxdal's Obituary
James "Jim" Lee Kluxdal, age 88, of Centerville, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Centerville Specialty Care of Covid 19.
Jim was born on November 20, 1934 in Warren, Minnesota, the son of Dennis Rudolph Kluxdal and Hulda Olivia (Bloomsness) Kluxdal. He was united in marriage to Lola "Minnie" Black in 1959, and to this union, three children were born, Lon, Pam and Kim. Jim joined the United States Army in 1954, served until he was honorably discharged in 1957 & put on reserved status. He took a brief break from the military, and went to Nurse Anesthetist School at St. Barnabas School of Nursing in Minneapolis. He returned to the military in 1991, and retired as a Major with the Army in 1998.
Jim was a 50-year member of the American Legion, VFWs, and Mason's, as well as active in Kaaba Shriners and the Eagles #2675 - Centerville. In his spare time, he liked to dabble with his old cars. The couple traveled to Apache Junction, Arizona every winter where they became friends with many snowbirds.
In 1971, Jim and Minnie moved to Centerville, where he became a Nurse Anesthetist for 20 years. He then accepted a position at the VA Hospital in Des Moines as a Nurse Anesthetist, and worked there for 10 years. Later, Jim traveled as a Nurse Anesthetist until his retirement in the early 2000's.
Left to cherish Jim's memory are his children, Lon Kluxdal (Special friend, Marlene), Pam Wells (Gary Anderson), and Kim Kluxdal; two grandchildren, Dennis (Brooklyn) Kluxdal and Nicole Wells; three great grandchildren, Cali, Layton and Kinsley; his sister, Jane Myers; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Hulda Kluxdal; his wife, Lola "Minnie" Kluxdal; his sister, Catherine Peery; and his son-in-law, Doug Wells.
Per wishes, cremation has been accorded, and there are no scheduled services at this time.
