James Michael "Mike" Donovan's Obituary
James Michael 'Mike' Donovan, age 61, of Centerville, Iowa, died Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville. He was born the son of William 'Junior' and Pauline (Broshar) Donovan on March 24, 1947 in Centerville, Iowa. He graduated from Centerville Community Schools in 1965.In 1967, Mike was united in marriage to Mary Alice Sell in Unionville, Missouri. Two children were born into this union. They were later divorced. In 1988, he was then united in marriage to Marcia Johnson in Centerville, Iowa. They too, were later divorced. After high school, Mike worked for Elliott Electric for several years. He later owned Donovan's Attic and Gun Shop as well as H&H Discount on the levee in Centerville. Mike could be found as a ringman for Gary Knight Auction Service and later Jim Scott Auction Service. For many years, he could be found all over Iowa and Missouri calling Demolition Derbies.He was preceded in death by: his father, Bill Donovan; brother, Billy Donovan; grandparents and several aunts and uncles.Mike is survived by: his mother, Pauline Donovan of Centerville, Iowa; daughter, Melinda Hensley and her husband, Clayton of Clinton, Tennessee; son, Bill Donovan and his wife, Jodi of Ames, Iowa; grandchildren, Will Hensley and Hazel Hensley both of Clinton, Tennessee; sisters, Judy Baze and her husband, Dick of Centerville, Iowa, Pat Strickler of Marshalltown, Iowa and Cindy Johnson of Centerville, Iowa; also several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at 10 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Jim Schweizer officiating. Burial will follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery near Moravia, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 15, 2008 from 6 pm till 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with the family present.Memorials can be made to his family and left at the funeral home.
