Jake Henry Foster's Obituary
Jacob 'Jake' Henry Foster, Jr., age 97, died Monday, January 11, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa. He was born the son of Jacob and Mayme (Rinehart) Foster on October 2, 1912 near Moravia, Iowa. He attended a rural Appanoose Country School near Moravia.On August 5, 1929 he was united in marriage to Grace Wetmore in Corydon, Iowa. In this marriage there were four children born. Jake spent most of his life farming and trucking in the Moravia area. He enjoyed showing off his 1956 Chevy, camping, and was a lifelong member of the Centerville Boots and Saddle Club and a member of the 18/80 Club.Jake is survived by: daughters, Dixie Kaster of Kansas City, Kansas and Roma and her husband, James Underwood of Westwood, Kansas; son-in-law, Carl Condra of Grain Valley, Missouri; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and fifteen great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.Jacob is preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Grace Foster; son, Harold Foster on April 19, 1953 in the Korean Conflict; daughter, Shirley Condra; son-in-law, Larry Kaster; brother, Theodore Foster; sisters, Imogene Davison and Virginia Murphy.Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 10 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Jim Schweizer officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville. Visitation will be held Friday, January 15, 2010 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville from 3 pm to 5:00 pm.
