Jacob Comegys' Obituary
Jacob Wesley Comegys, 23, of Centerville, IA, died instantly on June 12, 2017, as a result of a collision with a semi tractor-trailer. Jake was born in Marshalltown, IA on April 17, 1994 to parents, Natalie and the late Ronald Allen Comegys. Jake graduated from Moravia High School in 2012 and studied aviation at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, IA. Throughout high school, Jake worked at Honey Creek Resort as a lifeguard and later as a groundskeeper at the golf course. At the time of his death, Jake was employed by East Penn Manufacturing in Corydon, IA. He enjoyed campfires, hunting for mushrooms, fishing, playing Frisbee golf and spending time with his friends. Jake lived with his significant other, Lena Winter, in Centerville, IA. He is also survived by his mother, Natalie Ann Carter; brother, Jeffrey Allen Comegys, 25, of Pueblo, CO and Aurora Ember-Lynn Snow. Also mourning his loss are Jacob's maternal grandfather, Norman (Joyce) Vote of Melrose, IA and maternal aunts: Valerie (Randy) Castle of Falls Church, VA and Melanie Vote (Julien Gardair) of Brooklyn, NY as well as his maternal grandmother, Sandy Comegys; aunt, Renee Johnson and cousins: Dalton and Gavin, all of Alleman, IA. Jake also leaves behind a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Allen Comegys, maternal grandmother, Charlene Cooper Vote and his paternal grandfather, Donald Allen Comegys. Jacob's life celebration will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville.
