Jackie Paul Glascock Sr.'s Obituary
Jackie Paul Glascock Sr., age 73, of Cincinnati, Iowa, passed away, Thursday, January 19, 2017in Coralville, Iowa.
He was born on May 8, 1943, the son of Clarence and Myrtle (Henderson) Glascock at their home in Cincinnati. He joined two brothers, Dean and Jerry. Jack graduated from Cincinnati High School, and then was drafted into the US Army. He was later honorably discharged.
Jack was united in marriage to Maureen Gay, and to this union a son was born, Jackie Paul II. They later divorced. He then married Doretta Lawson. She preceded him in death.
Jack's life was spent enjoying the outdoors and sports. He was a dedicated fan to the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Kansas City Royals. He played Men's slow pitch with the Cincinnati league, and enjoyed watching his son's team compete. Jack also played pool for the Numa Men's League.
His passion of gardening started early spring, when he constructed his greenhouse and planted his seedlings. He always took pride in his garden, boasting his tomatoes were the best. His success in fishing allowed family and friends to come together for fish fry gatherings and big stories.
Jack was never without his four legged friends. He loved his dogs. He always had a buddy or two riding along in his truck. His winters were spent deer, coyote, and coon hunting with his brothers and friends.
He was employed as a roller operator for Des Moines Asphalt and Paving and was a member of the local 234.
Jack is survived by his son, Jackie; two nieces, Terri (Phil) Oden, and Barb (Tim) Gladscock-Pasa; a sister in law, Alice McClure; an uncle, Bucky Henderson; an aunt, Bonnie Hall; two great nieces, Mindy West and Kate Pasa; two great nephews, Jesse Oden and Owen Pasa; along with a host of friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Myrtle Glascock; brothers, Donald in infancy, Dean, and Jerry; a sister in law, Roberta (Tootie) Glascock; step-son, Mike Brown; and a great nephew, Korey Lee.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30PM, Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville. Burial will follow the service at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati. A visitation will take place on Monday, January 23, 2017 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville, with family greeting friends from 5-7PM.
