Jackie Fetters' Obituary
Jackie Dean 'Jack' Fetters, 54 of Seymour passed away at his home Monday, July 30, 2012. He was born the son of Everett Lee and JoAnn (Smith) Fetters on October 30, 1957 in Centerville, Iowa. Jack graduated from Seymour Community High School in 1977. He went on to work at the Pester Derby Station in Seymour, Iowa for his father Everett until his decision to become a truck driver. For the next 16 years he crossed America's highways as an owner /operator gathering numerous stories to entertain family and friends. When it became time to change careers he chose to learn the trade of heavy equipment operator working for Marvin Swan and later joining his brother Jerry at Fetters Farms. His talents will be greatly missed. Jack enjoyed glass etching, playing dice, pitch and spending time on his computer. He had a big heart and loved making people smile. He was quick witted and enjoyed sharing his adventures of his over the road experiences. One of his favorites was the story of Donner Pass, Jack would get on his CB late at night and ask if anyone was traveling the road as it was 'Wolfman Jack' speaking and then letting out a big howl as he went thru the pass. Jack's greatest pride was being a part of Fetters Farms. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, David and Lula Fetters, maternal grandparents, Bernard and Velva Smith, as well as his father Everett Fetters and a nephew Tyler Fetters. Jack is survived by his mother JoAnn Fetters of Seymour; three brothers, Donnie (Harriett) Fetters of Hesperia, CA, Jonnie (Cheryl) Fetters, and Jerry (Penny) Fetters both of Seymour, IA; son, Nicholas Fetters of Appanoose County along with numerous nieces and nephews. Jack will be dearly missed by all that knew him. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wayne County Hospital.
