Jackie Ambelang's Obituary
Jacqueline "Jackie" Ann Ambelang, age 84, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2017 at her home in Allerton, Iowa in the care of her husband. Jackie was born on November 27, 1932 in Dixon, Illinois to John and Catherine (Hill) Kelly. She graduated from Dixon High School in Illinois. Jackie had two daughters, Ann and Kelly and she was married to John Ambelang. Jackie was proud of her Irish heritage; she always decorated in green and shamrocks. She was a wonderful cook, and won 1st place in a chili competition. She was also an avid watcher of her soap operas in the afternoons. Among her favorite things was boating on the Rock River with her sister Marilyn and brother-in-law Buck and their family in Dixon. She always loved to watch drag racing and NASCAR; her favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt. She loved to travel to Florida with her husband John and be near the beach, which was one of her favorite places. At home she loved gardening and watching hummingbirds and she enjoyed reading novels. Jackie loved to go fishing; one of her favorite quotes was: "It's hard to think bad thoughts about anyone when you're fishing". She was a wonderful mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother, and Aunt. She will be greatly missed. Jackie is survived by her husband John Ambelang, daughters: Ann Johnson and Kelly Heston (Eric); grandchildren: Josh Baynes (Molly), Julie Crawford, Kassie Clowser (Gabe), Tyler Cribb (fianc Mary Akers), sister Marilyn Buckingham (Donald), great grandchildren: Emmitt Willey, Chloe Crawford, Natalie Baynes, Zayne Clowser, Vince Clowser and many other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death was her parents. Funeral services will be Friday, October 13, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon with Pastor Diane Olson Schroeder officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:00-1:30 p.m. on Friday. Memorials may be directed to the Wayne County Hospital.
