Jack O'Hair's Obituary
Jack O'Hair, 86, of Centerville passed away, Friday, December 25, 2015 at Mahaska County Hospital in Oskaloosa. Jack was born in Centerville to John & Beulah (Roby) O'Hair on September 11, 1929. He received his education from Centerville Schools, graduating in 1949. On July 25, 1975, Jack was united in marriage to Carol Barbaglia in Lancaster, Missouri. Jack served his country in the United States Army Corp and the Iowa National Guard. He received numerous medals as a sharpshooter and an expert tank gunnery. Before his retirement, Jack was promoted to Master Sargent. Jack had a knack for fixing electronics. He was employed by Oehler Bros. Firestone for 28 years as a TV & Appliance repair man. He also worked at Elliott Electric for 5 years before he started his own business, Jack's Electric. He retired in 2005. Jack was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He enjoyed being outdoors when the weather would allow. One of his favorite things to do outside was caring for his lawn. He also enjoyed watching western shows and listening to country-western music. Jack was a trader at heart, constantly having tool sales at his house. At the end of the day, Jack enjoyed coming home to spend time with his family and his dog (Major). Survivors include his wife, Carol O'Hair of Centerville, six children: Terry O'Hair (Leslie) of Burlington, Randy O'Hair of Dallas, TX, Tim O'Hair (Anissa) of Caddo Mills, TX, Mark McGrann (Carla Cochran) of Mystic, Diane Dalponte (Steve Hiatt) of Exline, Julie McGrann (Barry Connor) of Centerville, 18 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters: Debbie O'Hair in 2003 and Eileen Thomas in 2006. Funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville with Fr. Bill Hubmann officiating. Interment will follow immediately with military rites at Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Monday, December 28, 2015 at Thomas Funeral Home. A scripture service will be led by Fr. Bill Hubmann at 6:30 p.m... Memorials may be given to St. Mary's Catholic Church or Boys Town and condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com.
