Jack Neil McClurg's Obituary
Jack N. McClurg, 97, of Brighton, Iowa passed away March 13th, 2025 in Wayland, Iowa at Parkview Home.
Jack was born to John H. and Agnes (Caster) McClurg on November 21st, 1927 in Exline, Iowa. He received his education from Exline High School. After high school, he joined the Army where he was stationed in Japan. In 1949, he married Martha Evelyn Cochran and farmed southeast of Exline. In 1950, they moved to Indianola, Iowa to work for Carl Hirsch on his hog farm for a couple of years before they moved north of Plano. Jack and Martha farmed until his retirement. He took pride in his farm, farm equipment, vehicles and yard. He was a perfectionist.
Jack wasn't shy about doing hard work. This showed by his satisfaction of restoring his first brand new tractor, a 1954 Allis Chalmer WD 45, that he would proudly ride in the Pancake Day parades. He loved taking care and cleaning all his vehicles, especially his 1990 Chevy Silverado which looked like new with only a little over 19,000 miles on it, when he sold it to his nephew, Dennis McClurg. Dennis also is the proud owner of the 1954 Allis Chalmer tractor.
Jack is survived by his daughters, Connie (Larry) Moore and Teresa (Harold) Arbogast; grandchildren, Stacey (Stephen) Hanley, Tara (Brett) Hahn; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Maddie Eldridge, Reese and Jack Hanley, and Jo Hahn; and brother, Robert McClurg and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha McClurg; son, Douglas McClurg; parents, John and Agnes McClurg; brothers, Clifton McClurg and Junior McClurg; sisters, Berthema Thomasson, Marjorie Mikels and Doris Pancrazio.
