Jack Newell Engle's Obituary
Jack Newell Engle passed into eternity with his Lord Jesus Christ on November 2, 2021. He was born December 21, 1956 to Delbert Engle and Darlene (Barrell) Miller in Centerville, Iowa.
Jack's life was full of different job opportunities; from working with his dad at Bob Rosencrants's mobile home court, to pulling and setting up mobile homes, to working at Viscase in the 70's, to working for L & W Quarries in the 80's, Centerville Iron and Metal, on and off over a number of years, Clarke Coal Company for several years, then to eventually having his own full time construction business and most recently working with his brother at Hayes Tree Trimming service.
He always dreamed of going to Colorado, which he did in the fall of 1976. He worked at the Husky Truck Stop in Limon, Colorado for his uncle, Lee Engle. It was in the restaurant next door that he would meet his wife, Melody. They moved back to Centerville in the winter of 1976, then marrying in May of 1977, being together 45 years.
On March 7th of 1982, Jack gave his heart to the Lord Jesus Christ and his whole world changed. He now had a passion for telling the people he cared about, about the truth of the gospel; that Jesus died for each person as an individual. The scripture he wanted to get across to people was Ephesians 2: 8-9, "For by grace are saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast."
He was called to preach in 1983 and became a lay pastor for the Chariton Church of God from late 1989 to the spring of 1992. He then was called to Naturita, Colorado in the fall of 1992, where he pastored until the fall of 1997. He returned to Iowa with an intense desire to start a work for his Lord. He built a church in Livonia, Missouri, co-pastored 2 of the Assembly of God Churches in Missouri, and just tried to help wherever he could under other pastors. In 2013, Jack formed Remnant Church Ministries which continues today in Seymour, Iowa.
Every person that Jack met was looked upon as a potential friend. He loved helping and caring for people, deeply regretting mistakes that he made along the way.
Jack was preceded in death by his baby brother, Walter Gene, his grandson, Devyn, and his parents.
He leaves behind to follow him to glory, his wife Melody, daughter Brandy of Roseville, California, sons Eugene and John of Brazil, and daughter Teri Howard (Ray) of Mystic. He also has 2 granddaughters, Makayla of Brazil and Gianna of Roseville, California; brothers and sisters and their families; aunts, uncles and cousins, his congregation, and we can't forget his phone buddies. He will be sorely missed by all.
Per Jack's wishes, cremation has been accorded. Celebration of Life service for Jack and his son, Eugene, will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family and condolences can be shared at www.thomasfh.com or www.facebook.com/thomasfuneralhome.
