J. Forrest Curtis' Obituary
J. Forrest Curtis, age 88, of Centerville, Iowa, died Monday, February 14, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa. He was born the son of the late William Curtis and the late Opal (Ashford) Curtis on January 16, 1917 in Downing, Missouri. He graduated from Downing Community School in Downing, Missouri.On August 27, 1939, Forrest was united in marriage to Ann Miller in Greentop, Missouri. He was employed as a manager for over 27 years by Easter's Super Valu and later as a manager for 10 years at Farm & Home Supply in Centerville, Iowa. He was a member of Drake Avenue Christian Church and served as a Deacon and Trustee. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.Forrest was preceded in death by: his parents and one brother.He is survived by: his wife Ann Curtis of Centerville, Iowa; a daughter Judith Smart of Liberty, Missouri; grandchildren Marti Jones and Mark Smart, both of Kansas City, Missouri; great-grandchildren Kirk Hoerrmann, Cassie Sinclair, Daniel Sinclair, all of Kansas City, Missouri and Stethan Smart of Osage Beach, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 18, 2005 at 1:00 P.M. at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Kay Singley officiating. Burial wilth full military honors will follow at the Downing Cemetery, Downing, Missouri. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2005 from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa.
