Gene Gibbs, 90 of Promise City passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023 at his home. Gene was born to Ivan & Beulah (Hiatt) Gibbs on April 19, 1933 in Centerville, Iowa. He received his education from Seymour High School, graduating i Read Obituary
Leon Loney from Humboldt Iowa, Gene gave me my first real full-time job. I worked in high school after school and full-time during the summers so basically he is the reason I am successful . I learned a lot from Gene. When he sold the dealership I graduated from high school that year. Gene was able to get me transferred to Des Moines Ford tractor, I am glad he took me under his wing and gave me my first real start in life. I will miss him a lot. He was a great mentor!!

Gene came as a guest woodcarving artist to my classroom & annual Art on the Street for many years. I always enjoyed talking with him about his craft & seeing his carvings. I will miss our chats, but I'm happy he's reunited with his beloved Romona. RIP Gene.
