Ivan D. Cochran's Obituary
Ivan Darold Cochran, age 94 of Cincinnati, Iowa, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016 at the Golden Age Care Center in Centerville, Iowa.
Ivan was born on May 24, 1922 in West Grove, Iowa, the son of Harley and Lulu (Henderson) Cochran.
He entered the United States Air Force in 1944. Ivan served his country faithfully during World War II with the Air Force Warfare Chemical Division. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal on November 17, 1946.
Ivan was united in marriage to Alois Darlene Bates on July 25, 1953 in Newtown, Missouri and to this union, the couple were blessed with two children, Karee and Gary. Ivan and Darlene celebrated nearly sixty three years of marriage.
Following his military career, Ivan spent twenty four years in the Construction field. Ivan became obedient to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with his baptism on January 26, 1977. Ivan and Darlene first attended the E. Pleasant Church of Christ in Cincinnati, Iowa. Following a transitional period, they eventually became members of the Centerville Church of Christ. Ivan had been an active member of the Church for the past sixteen years.
Ivan was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and he enjoyed watching game shows on the television, especially Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Most importantly, Ivan led a Christian life and he loved his family, including his dog, Fuzzy Wuzzy.
He is survived by his wife, Alois Darlene Cochran of Cincinnati, Iowa; two children, Karee Cochran of Cincinnati, Iowa and Gary Cochran of Cincinnati, Iowa; two siblings, Ira Cochran of Loveland, Colorado and Iola McMorrow of Centerville, Iowa; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Ivan was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Leatha Cochran, Ilin Bowen, and Ledine Cochran; a brother, Irel Victor Cochran; and five nieces and nephews.
Graveside services with military rites will be held at 3:30PM on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati, Iowa with Pastor Larry Hudson officiating. A visitation will take place at Lange Funeral Home & Crematory in Centerville on Thursday from 2-3PM. Memorials have been established to the Centerville Church of Christ and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
