Isabelle A. Rodgers' Obituary
Isabelle A. Rodgers, age 98, of Centerville, Iowa, died Wednesday, February 25, 2004, at home in Centerville, Iowa. She was born the daughter of James and Lena (Maulsby) Aitken on April 3, 1905. She received her education in rural Appanoose County schools. On October 17, 1924, Isabelle was united in marriage to George Rodgers in Unionville, Missouri. They farmed for many years in the Unionville, Missouri area. Later Isabelle was employed at the Appanoose County Courthouse and then at the First Baptist Church. She was a member of Drake Avenue Christian Church and was active in church activities as long as her health permitted. A mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother, Isabelle put her family first. She influenced all the lives she touched with love, her integrity, honesty, work ethics and courage. She was an inspiration to her family and friends. Isabelle was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Rodgers on March 4, 1960; nine brothers and sisters; son-in-law, Wayne Bryant; grandson, Roger Bryant; and great-granddaughter, Delisha Engle.She is survived by her two daughters, Jewell Bryant and Patty, and her husband, Bob Gatrel of Centerville, Iowa; sister, Jean Baldock of Unionville, Missouri; and six grandchildren, Craig and Mark Gatrel, Mary Jo Engle, Jerri Smith, Carol Cortesio and Becky Davis. She is also survived by twelve great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2004 at 10:00 AM at the Drake Avenue Christian Church in Centerville, Iowa. Burial will follow at the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville, Iowa.
