Irma Jean Harrington's Obituary
Irma Jean (Jennings) Harrington, age 86, of Allerton, passed away May 24, 2025 at Corydon Specialty Care.
Irma was born on May 6, 1939 in Spokane, Washington to Alan Stroud and Viola (Jennings) Stewart. She graduated from Allerton High School with the class of 1957.
Throughout her life, Irma was a familiar face at many places. She had worked at Pamida, was a bank teller, and worked at Neely's Manufacturing. She was a very hardworking woman. In her younger years she enjoyed dancing at the Legion on Saturday nights and having fun with friends.
She was a very kind and simple woman. She enjoyed cozying up with a good book, embroidery, cooking, and tending to her garden. She loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her pets.
Irma is survived by her daughters, Pam McCoy and Chris Harrington; grandchildren Jesse McCoy, Zack (Hannah) McCoy , Seth (Kelcey) McCoy, Vincent (Felicia) Krause, and Jeremiah (Reagan) Krause; great grandchildren, Aiden, Thomas, Kathryn, Connar, Brenna, Lucy, Ezra, Gabe, Shaylee, Brock, Drew, Jonah, Ryker, Myles, Ashton, Charlotte, Layla and Aidyn; siblings, Kathy Hitt, JoAnn Brim, Jeff Stewart, and Danny Stewart; her cat, Millie 2.0, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Son-in-law Kevin McCoy; her dog, Sandy and the love of her life, Bill Christian.
Funeral services for Irma will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon, IA, with burial to follow at Allerton Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, from 1:00-2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service. For memorials the family requests everyone to spend time with their families.
