Irene V. Faoro's Obituary
Irene Faoro, age 87 of Mystic, Iowa passed away Thursday, August 20, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville.
Irene was born December 4, 1921, the daughter of Joseph and Florence (Giggletto) Cicco in Clarkdale, Iowa. She married Reno Joseph Faoro December 27, 1942 at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Mystic, Iowa. He preceded her in death. Irene enjoyed fishing, bowling, cooking, square dancing, bingo and playing cards with her friends and grandchildren. She played for a Women's Softball team and was a slugger. Irene volunteered at the American Legion in Mystic, Iowa.
Irene is survived by her children, Reno Faoro Jr. of Des Moines, Iowa, and John (Marie) Faoro of Mystic, Iowa; siblings, Stella Baptist of Davenport, Iowa, and Phyllis (Harry) Clayworth of Moravia, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Tyson (Kin) Faoro of Ottumwa, Iowa, Robby Bradshaw of Unionville, Missouri, Tina (Chris) Bird of Wathena, Kansas, Krystle (B.J.) Wright of Scranton, Iowa, Tesa (Nick) Davis of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Austin Faoro of Mystic, Iowa, Tasha (Rob) Faoro of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Sherry Lawson of Des Moines, Iowa and Shelley Faoro of Des Moines, Iowa; twenty three great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Helen Cicco; and a special friend, Lois Bunch. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Nick Cicco and Joe Cicco; and sisters, Mary Claybaugh, Jenny Sulivan, and Tressey Stewart.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Centerville, Iowa with Pastor Kathy Franzenburg officiating. Burial will follow at the Elgin Cemetery in Mystic, Iowa. A visitation will be held Monday at the Lange Funeral Home in Centerville with family present from 6-8 PM. A memorial has been established to Mystic American Legion or the First Evangelical Lutheran Church and may be left at or mailed to the Lange Funeral Home 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
