Ione McConnell's Obituary
Ione McConnell, age 95 of Moravia, Iowa passed away October 6, 2009 at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville, Iowa.
Ione was born November 24, 1913, the daughter of Robert and Glennie (Hixson) Luse near Moravia, Iowa. She graduated from Centerville High School. She worked as a secretary for Swift and Company in Centerville and was a private secretary for Union Pacific Railroad. Ione married Bob McConnell on December 18, 1937. Ione enjoyed riding horses as a young child, fishing, traveling and gardening. She attended the Nazarene Church and was a member of the 20th Century Club in Moravia, Iowa.
Ione is survived by a sister, Betty (Lester) Strunk of Moravia, Iowa; and nieces and nephews, Beverly Strunk, Mary (Don) Godwin, Joan (Dwight) Axtell, and John (Teresa) Strunk; and many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and an infant sister.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, October 10, 2009 at the Lange Funeral Home, Moravia, Iowa with Pastor Terry Chapman officiating. A visitation will be held Friday with the Family present from 6-8 PM at the Moravia Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Moravia.
