Carolyn McCann's Obituary
Carolyn (Williamson) McCann, 84, of Seymour, passed away at her home on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026.
Inez Carolyn Williamson was born on July 21, 1941, in Chariton, Iowa, the eldest daughter of Delbert and Elizabeth (Gill) Williamson. Carolyn graduated from Cambria High School with the Class of 1959. She was the last person to receive a high school diploma from Cambria as the school merged with Corydon High School the next year. After graduation, Carolyn went to Northeast Missouri State University for interior design. On October 8, 1960, she was united in marriage to Thomas "Larry" Lawrence McCann at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chariton, Iowa. Their loving partnership spanned 65 years, producing a legacy of love in their three children, Kandi, David, and Amy.
A devoted homemaker, Carolyn poured her heart into nurturing her family and creating a warm, welcoming home. Carolyn began taking tole painting classes when they lived in Grinnell. After the teacher of the class moved away, the class asked Carolyn to take over teaching the class. She accepted and continued teaching many throughout the years both in her home and for Indian Hills Community College. Her joy was found in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and extended family. Beyond her family, she expressed her creativity through crafting and cherished the adventures she shared with Larry. Together, they embraced life as snowbirds, wintering in Arizona with friends, always eager for new experiences and cherished company.
Carolyn's life was a testament to love, dedication, and joy. She leaves behind a family who will forever remember her wit, her warmth, her laughter, and the thoughtful touches she brought to everyday life.
Those left to cherish Carolyn's memory are her children, Kandi Hackett, David (Stephanie) McCann, and Amy McCann; grandchildren, Samantha Hackett, Christina Hackett (Andrew Salazar), Courtney (Anthony) Clark, Nicklos (Lauren) McCann, and Trent McCann; great grandchildren, Rylie Jo Hackett, Nova Salazar, Myles Salazar, Hazel Salazar, and Linley McCann; her sisters, Judy (Ted) Ewing and Kaye Cawthorn; her brother-in-law, Mike (Nancy) McCann; her sisters-in-law, Kathy Carlson and Karen (Wayne) Miller; as well as several extended family members and friends.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Larry McCann on February 24, 2026; her parents, Delbert and Elizabeth Williamson; her son-in-law, Rick Hackett; and her brothers-in-law, Denny Cawthorn and Gene Carlson.
