Imogene Jung's Obituary
Sister Imogene Jung, age 87 of Centerville, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center, Centerville, Iowa.
She was born the daughter of Clarence Edward and Mary Elizabeth (Krull) Jung on November 16, 1926 in Clarksdale, Missouri. Imogene graduated high school in 1944, then continued her education and worked many years in elementary teaching and home care.
Sister Imogene eventually made Centerville her home in 2004. She developed numerous friendships throughout the Centerville community, especially with parishioners at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville. Imogene loved helping people, teaching, cooking and had a passion for flowers and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Mary Dorine.
Imogene is survived by a sister, Marjorie Hinkle; nieces, Catherine Roark, Margie Lowry and Christina Newton; a nephew, Joseph Halter; cousins, Byron (Saretta) Jung and Virginia (William) Karl; and a dear friend, Sister Mary Anne.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville with Father Bill Hubmann officiating. A visitation will take place at the church on Tuesday from 10 AM until service time. Following the service, Sister Imogene will be cremated and an inurnment will take place at a later date in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Easton, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the Centerville 18-80 Club, St. Mary's Catholic Church or to HCI (formerly known as Hospice of Central Iowa) and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
