Ilin Bowen's Obituary
Ilin Bowen, 94, passed away May 3, 2014 at Centerville Nursing and Rehab. Ilin was born December 11, 1919 near West Grove, Iowa to Harley and Minta Cochran. Ilin attended rural school and graduated from Cincinnati High School, Centerville Community College and Northeast Missouri University at Kirksville, MO. She spent several years as a teacher in Appanoose and Wayne Co. Ilin was a member of Drake Avenue Christian Church, Delta Kappa Gamma sorority for years and also loved to go to the 18-80 Club to play cards. On August 27, 1938, she was united in marriage to Doris Bowen. To this union, sons Jerry, Jack, Jim and John were born. She dedicated her life to her family, especially grandchildren, great grandchildren, her students at school and to her savior Jesus Christ. She is survived by sons, Jim Bowen and Darlene of Centerville, John Bowen and Barbara, of Littleton, CO, daughter in law, Joyce Bowen, grandchildren and great grandchildren, sister, Iola McMorrow, and brothers, Ivan Cochran and Ira Cochran. She was preceded in death by her husband, Doris Bowen, sons, Jerry and Jack, her parents and brother, Victor Cochran. Funeral Services for Ilin will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, at Thomas Funeral Home with Pastor Eric Hoover officiating. Visitation will be one hour before, starting at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the 18-80 Club or Centerville Nursing and Rehab.
