Ilene Sleeth's Obituary
Vivian (Ilene) Sleeth, of Udell passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Care Initiatives in Centerville, Iowa. Ilene was born to Bernard and Cora Ada Swarts on August 2, 1926 in Exline, Iowa. She graduated from Moulton High School in 1944. Ilene was united in marriage to Richard Sleeth on August 17, 1947 at Moulton Christian Church. To this union were two children, Sheila and Rhonda. Ilene taught school for 40 years beginning in a one room school house and retiring from Moulton-Udell High School. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and was known for her prize winning parade floats. In her retirement years she quilted wool comforters for her two children and six grandchildren. Ilene always believed that if you want something in life you need to work hard for it. Anyone that knew Ilene would know what a hard working woman she was. Survivors include daughters; Sheila Selix (Kenneth) of Unionville, Iowa and Rhonda Harris of Mitchellville, Iowa, six grandchildren; Jacqueline Selix (Chris) of Waukee, Jennifer VanWyngarden (Jamie) of Des Moines, Jillian Kaster (Brydon) of Moulton, Jonathan Selix (Jennifer), of Ottumwa, Michelle Harris (Chris) of Altoona and Kendra Harris (Dylan) of Mitchellville, Iowa, seven great grandchildren; Porter Kaster, Delaney Kaster, Thayne Kaster of Moulton, Iowa, Kaelynn Heathcoat Harris, Kinnick McDowell of Altoona, Iowa, Tayton Richardson and Trenton Richardson of Mitchellville, Iowa, sister Carolene Purvis (Dave) of Nunn, Colorado, brothers; Boyd Swarts (Martha) of Webb, Alabama, Deloyd Swarts (Pat) of Columbus Junction, Iowa, Cleroyd Swarts (Kay) of Newton, Iowa, Leroyd Swarts (Sheila) of Monroe, Iowa, Floyd Swarts (Connie) of Moulton, Cloyd Swarts (Colleen) of Newton, Iowa. Ilene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard, two sisters; Arlene DeCook, Colene Selvy. Services for Ilene will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 1:30 PM at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with Kay Singley officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Thomas Funeral Home. Interment will be at Mt. Ararat Cemetery in Centerville. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Central Iowa or Mt.
