Ida Louise Maletta's Obituary
Ida Louise (Kruzich) Maletta age 89 of Johnston, Iowa, formerly of Centerville and Mystic, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2014 at Bishop Drumm Retirement Center.
She was born December 13, 1924 in Diamond, Iowa to Anton and Rakela Kruzich. She attended Mystic Schools. Ida married John Anthony Maletta in Mystic, Iowa on December 29, 1945 and enjoyed nearly 68 years of marriage until John's death in October, 2013. Together they raised a daughter and two sons in Mystic where Ida was very active in the community.
Ida's career included working for Iowa Southern Utilities and Appanoose County Auditor. She was a member of the RA Club, Flower Club, St. Francis Catholic Church Altar and Rosary Society, as well as Mystic Alumni Association and Mystic Cemetery Association. Before moving to Bishop Drumm Retirement Center in 2013, she was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville, Iowa.
Ida was preceded in death by her husband, John, her parents, half brother, Tom Kruzich, and half sister, Jennie Susic, and son, Thomas.
She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne (Jim) Roth, of Ankeny and son, John (Luann) of Des Moines, and her sister, Marie McNamara of Lancaster, WI, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Adrian Ramos, of Centerville, IA as well as many nieces and nephews. Ida loved and will be greatly missed by her grandchildren; Michael (Jennifer) Roth, Sioux Falls, SD, Rachel (Matt) Williams, Grimes, Abigail (Matt) Hollenbeck, Conshohocken, PA, Kate (Jake) Ketzner, Clive, Nick Maletta, Waukee, and Sara (Glenn) Eikenberry of Arlington Heights, IL, as well as her three great grandchildren, Noah Roth, Leighton and Thalia Hollenbeck.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 PM Thursday, July 3, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville, Iowa with Father Bill Hubmann officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Centerville. A visitation will be held all day on Wednesday at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville, with the family greeting friends from 6-8 PM. A Rosary will be held at 7 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to either St. Mary's Catholic Church or the Mystic Community Center and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
