Hugh B. Mcclaskey's Obituary
Hugh McClaskey, age 86 of Centerville, died Sunday, January 13, 2008 at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville, Iowa.
Hugh was born July 9, 1921, the son of John Wesley and Lzona Forbes McClaskey in Chariton, Missouri. He married Audrey Orpha Ruggles on January 17, 1942 in Unionville, Missouri. Together, they began a lifelong journey that led to many memories for the McClaskey family. Hugh farmed for many years in Northern Missouri and Appanoose County before moving to Des Moines. He worked for and retired from the Des Moines school systems.
He is survived by his wife Audrey and four children, Dwight McClaskey and his wife Judy of Des Moines, Iowa, Melvin McClaskey and his wife Sharom of Arkansas, Linda Saylor and her husband Robert of Winterset and John McClaskey and his wife Sandy of Missouri. Also survived by nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren and a sister, Juanita Garr. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley and Lzona McClaskey; sisters, Eva McClaskey Mercer, Mildred McClaskey Oden and Mary Louise, infant and another infant sibling.
Hugh was very much a family man. His wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will greatly miss him.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 am, Wednesday, January 16th, 2008 at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, Burial will follow at the Hilltown Cemetery south east of Exline, Iowa. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 15th at the Thomas Lange Home all day with the family present from 5-7pm.
