Hilda Maxine Felton's Obituary
Hilda M. Felton, age 91, of Centerville, Iowa, died Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at Centerville Nursing & Rehab Center in Centerville. She was born the daughter of William Howard and Laura E. (Doty) Whisler on April 27, 1923 in Manson, Iowa. She graduated from the Moravia Community High School in 1940.On May 17, 1942, Hilda was united in marriage to Harry Allen Felton, Jr. at the home of her parents near Moravia, Iowa. She taught school for 4 years in a rural Appanoose County country school, and later would work for over 14 years as a Home Health Aid and as the morning cook at Centerville Nursing and Rehab in Centerville. She was a Sunday School teacher, and a Bible School teacher for many years at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Albia, Iowa.She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Harry Felton, Jr.on February 6, 2004; sons, James Felton in 1988 and infant son, Gary Lee Felton in 1947; grandson, David Felton in 1968; a brother, Warren Whisler; and a sister, Carolyn Jacobsen.Hilda is survived by: her sons, Jerry Felton and his wife, Janice of Unionville, Iowa, Larry Felton and his wife, Marla of Chillicothe, Missouri and Steven Felton and his wife, Linda of Grapevine, Texas; a daughter, Jeanne Pahl and her husband, Joe of Jordan, Minnesota; daughter-in-law, Cherie Felton Schnelle of Centerville, Iowa; fifteen grandchildren, Nine step grandchildren; Thirty-Five great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.Funeral Services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, September 20, 2014 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Nancy Reed officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Moravia, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 19, 2014 from 2 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home with the family present from 5 to 7 pm. Memorials can be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Albia, Iowa and can be left or mailed to the funeral home.
