Herman Fowler's Obituary
Herman Fowler, 85 of Moulton passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville. Herman was born in Cincinnati, Iowa on November 15, 1930 to Albert & Pearl (Davolt) Fowler. He received his education from Moulton High School graduating in 1949. On July 12, 1953, Herman was united in marriage to Phyllis Archer at the Moulton United Methodist Church. Herman worked in construction for the majority of his life at Norris Asphalt and before retirement worked for the City of Moulton. He enjoyed feeding the birds and the squirrels while watching them from his deck. Herman was a card player and enjoyed playing several games of old man solitaire several times a day. Herman liked to joke around with people and constantly teasing his grandkids with "I thought I locked that door!" when they walked in the kitchen. He enjoyed watching the Western Channel and also enjoyed his trips south in the winter with Phyllis. Most of all, Herman loved his family; and enjoyed every minute with them. Survivors include his wife Phyllis of Moulton, two children: Connie Dunham (Scot) of Centerville, Gary Fowler (Shelli) of Centerville, seven grandchildren: Clint Varese, Ashley Ingersoll (Kris), Tyler Davis (Wendy), Natasha Fowler (T.J. Campbell), Natalie Trinkle (Joe), Miranda Dunham Felicia Cook (Chris), 12 great grandchildren, brother, Jack Fowler of Bloomfield, sisters-in-law: Shirley Fowler of Winfield, Iowa, Sue Archer of Albia, Iowa, brothers-in-law, Kenneth Archer (Jan) of Ottumwa, John Archer (Judy) of Ottumwa, David Archer (Hope) of Moulton and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Lowell "Doc" Horn, son, James "Peachy" Fowler, brothers, Bob Leaming, Bill, Albert and Ed Fowler, an infant brother, Richard Fowler, mother and father-in-law, Walter & Geneva Archer and brothers-in-law, Bill, Max & Bobby Archer. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Moulton United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Schweizer officiating. Interment will full military rites will take place immediately following service at Sunset View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Herman's grandsons, Clint Varese, Tyler Davis, Kris Ingersoll, Chris Cook, Joe Trinkle and TJ Campbell. Visitation will be Friday, September 30, 2016 at Thomas Funeral Home in Moulton from 2-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. Memorials may be given to Moulton First Responders or HCI-Hospice and condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com.
