Herbert Leo Brinkley Obituary's Obituary
Herbert Leo Brinkley, 90, of Plano, Iowa was born December 12, 1921 near Seymour, Iowa and passed away April 12, 2012 at the Wayne County Hospital. His parents were Clarence and Mabel (Webber) Brinkley. The family moved to rural Plano, Iowa in 1935. Herbert worked in coalmines in winter and for various farmers in the summer. He moved to Plano in 1940 and worked for Lincoln Harbold on his farm, raising hogs and helping with his timothy seed business. He married Norma Davison in 1941. In 1942, they moved north of Plano and started farming. He had no hobbies. He would rather help someone that needed a helping hand. He enjoyed making homemade ice cream and taking it to the neighbors for a visit. He started farming with horses and bought his first John Deere, 'Johnny Popper' in 1950 wanted the 'Johnny Poppers' to sound just right and wanted both of his grandchildren to have one. His parents and a brother-in-law Grover Seals preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Norma of Plano, a daughter Carolyn (Greg) Lowe of Numa, grandson Matthew Lowe of Numa, granddaughter Ashley (J. R.) Glenn of Grinnell, Iowa, a sister Juanita Seals, brother Dean (Jo) Brinkley, brother Harold (Beth) Brinkley all of Washington State, cousins, and some very special friends and neighbors.
