Helen Louise Wood's Obituary
Helen Wood, age 90 formerly of Corydon, Iowa, passed away on May 2, 2021 at her daughter's home in Osceola.
Helen Louise Cook was born to Leroy and Ola (Vroman) Cook on April 21, 1931 in Clarinda, Iowa. She attended Promise City High School. Helen was married to Bill Murray and to this union Roger, Dennis and Vickie were born. They later divorced and on January 3, 1959 she was then married to John Wood and Robert, Kathy, Tami, and Timothy were born.
Helen loved helping with Bible School at the Cincinnati Community Church, riding her bicycle which she called her "Harley", and visiting with her friends and neighbors. She also enjoyed babysitting for many children in the Corydon area and she was an avid cat lover. But most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and her children.
She is survived by her children: Roger Murray (Carina), Dennis Murray, Vickie Heartley, Kathy Smith (Terry), Tami Atwell, Timothy Wood, daughter-in-law Tony Wood, 20 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and numerous extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Robert Wood, second husband John Wood, first husband Bill Murray, grandson Joseph Heartley, grandson Jonathan Heartley and son-in-law Gene Heartley.
