Helen Irene Warrick's Obituary
Helen Irene Warrick was born on October 19, 1923 to Charles and Eva Shepherd on a farm southeast of Clio. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 28, 2022 at the Corydon Specialty Care at the age of 99.
She was the youngest of 5 children. She attended country school near Clio and graduated high school from Allerton in 1942. She went on to Simpson College for Normal Training to become a teacher. She taught in several country schools in Wayne County.
She met Lowell Warrick at a box supper where she was teaching. He bought her box and on June 1, 1947, they were married in Des Moines, Iowa. Lowell worked for a construction company. They owned a trailer home and lived wherever Lowell's job took him.
Helen and Lowell were blessed with four children: Terry Lynn, Patricia Irene, Dennis Eugene, and Pamela Jean.
In 1958, the family moved to Corydon. In March of 1959, they purchased their home in Corydon and lived there together until Lowell went to the Care Center in 2011. He passed away in May 2012. They enjoyed almost 65 years of marriage. Helen continued to live in her home until she had a stroke in March of 2018. She then went to live at Corydon Specialty Care.
Helen always kept busy. She always had a big garden and loved her flowers. She was a great cook and kept a spotless home. She was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her family was her top priority. Whatever they were involved in, she was there. She was a devoted wife and mother.
She attended the Clio Methodist Church as a child. She later became a member of the Corydon Christian Church, where she was saved and baptized. She was very active in her church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Eva, her husband, Lowell, her son, Terry, and her three brothers, her sister and their spouses, Earl, Homer (Mildred), Willis (Gladys), and Marie (Charles) Vandel.
Left to mourn her passing are her children, Patricia (Terry) Ewing of Allerton, Dennis (Gayle) of Keosauqua, and Pamela of Corydon, five granddaughters Emily (Jason) Burgus, Melissa (Joe) Eagle, Heidi (Tyler) Claussen, Chelsea (Chris) Long, and Rachel (Cooper) Smith, 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
