Helen Stromdahl's Obituary
Helen Jane Stromdahl, age 90, of Bloomfield, formerly of Centerville, passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at her home.
Helen was born on June 5, 1930 in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Emil and Mabel (Salyers) Stromdahl at the Protestant Hospital in Centerville, Iowa. She graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1948.
Helen lived her entire life in Centerville on South 11th Street. She attended the Evangelical Covenant Church in Centerville, and was a Sunday school teacher. She had various places of employment beginning with Uniform Printing in Centerville, McGraw Edison in Centerville, Union Carbide in Centerville, and lastly, she worked for Young Radiator in Centerville until her retirement in 1995.
Helen enjoyed reading, puzzles-especially the search and finds, and watching Wheel of Fortune with her friend, Pauline. She cherished her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Left to cherish Helens memory are her daughter, Carolyn Todey of Bloomfield; one grandchild, Patrick (Christy) Todey of Burlington; a granddaughter-in-law, Debbie Todey of Norwalk; two great grandchildren, Ryan Todey of Norwalk and Meghan Todey of Bloomfield; as well as some cousins and other extended family members.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Mabel Stromdahl.
Graveside services will be held at 11AM, Friday, May 14, 2021 at Haines Cemetery, north of Centerville with Rev. Allen Cooper and Rev. Joe Barnes officiating. Memorials have been established to either the Salvation Army of Des Moines-Central Office, or to the Drake Public Library, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, C/O Stromdahl family, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
