Helen Maxine Snider's Obituary
Helen Maxine (Swan) Snider, 102 passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at the Wayne County Hospital in Corydon, Iowa surrounded by her loving family.
Helen was born on November 8, 1923 to Cor and Myrle (Brinkley) Swan in Centerville, Iowa. She attended Seymour High School and graduated with the class of 1942. She then went on to attend Iowa State University Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Helen married the love of her life Milo Snider on January 22, 1944 and to this union they welcomed three children, Arthur, Craig and Anita.
Helen liked to stay busy and was involved in different organizations and also had many interests. She loved quilting and all the artistic abilities that go with it. She was a Charter member of the Laplanders Quilt Guild for 24 years. She was also a founding member of the Busy Stitchers Club in 1947.
Helen enjoyed her flowers and gardening, still working in the dirt at the age of 96 on her farm, calling this her therapy. She also had an upholstery business which led her to teach upholstery classes through Indian Hills Community College for several years.
What brought her the most happiness was family and friends. If only stopping by for a short visit or having everyone together for a meal and spending a Sunday or Holiday together.
Helen is survived by sons, Arthur (Carol) of Corydon, Craig (Pat) of Centerville, and daughter Anita (Dave) Raines of Ottumwa; ten grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milo Snider; siblings, Clinton Swan, Kenneth Swan, Norma Holmes and an infant brother.
Funeral Services for Helen will be held Friday, May 29, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon, IA with interment to immediately follow at Southlawn Cemetery in Seymour, IA. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 28, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon.
