Helen E Ross' Obituary
Helen Ross, 97 of Parker, Colorado passed away, Thursday, November 25, 2021 at Life Care Center at Stonegate in Parker.
Helen was born to Carl & Anna (Johnson) Youngstrom on November 1, 1924 in Orion, Illinois. She received her education from Victoria High School in Victoria, Illinois in 1942. After graduation, Helen joined the US Civil Service where she traveled to Chicago and worked for the Army Signal Corps during World War II. After the war, Helen was employed by the University of Chicago as a payroll clerk and later would be employed at Montgomery Ward Catalog Sales as a secretary.
On April 13, 1946, Helen was united in marriage to Charles E. Greene. He preceded her in death in June 1952. To this union came three children: Susan, Charles and Timothy. Helen would return to school and graduate from the University of Illinois in 1958 with a degree in Elementary Education.
Helen would teach 4th Grade and Special Education for 14 years in Illinois. While in Illinois, she met Loren Ross and would unite in marriage to him in 1966. They moved to Iowa in 1972 where she would finish her career in education.
Helen was a member of First Baptist Church in Centerville and served in several capacities, Sunday School Teacher and boards and committees. She also served on the ABW (American Baptist Women Organization).
Survivors include her children: Susan Schutz (Peter) of Castle Rock Colorado, Bob Greene of Carbondale, Illinois, Timothy Greene of Long Prairie, Minnesota, 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, step daughter, Bonnie Gill, siters: Gladys Quanstrom, Marian Duff, Verna Scott, brother, Robert Youngstrom, daughter-in-law, Marilyn Greene, brothers-in-law, Gerald Quanstrom, John Duff and a sister-in-law, Betty Youngstrom.
Funeral service will be 10:30 am, Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. Interment will immediately follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati. Visitation will be one hour prior to service from 9:30-10:30 am. Memorials may be given to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Shriner's Hospital and condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com or facebook.com/thomasfuneralhome.
