Helen Elizabeth Messersmith's Obituary
Helen Elizabeth Messersmith, age 88 of Centerville, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016 in Centerville.
Helen was born to Ray Reger and Martha Mason Reger in Sullivan County, Missouri near Harris, Missouri on March 12, 1928.
She was united in marriage to Wayne Messersmith in November of 1954, and has lived the last sixty years south of Centerville, but always referred to herself as a "Missourian".
Helen is survived by her children, Gary (Pam) Messersmith of Centerville, and Julia Taylor (Tim) of Ankeny, Iowa; Grandchildren, Jesseca (Ron) DeVore of Promise City, and Adam Messersmith of Tucson, Arizona; and two Great Grandchildren, Franchesca DeVore and Dakota DeVore; nieces and nephews, Dennis Adamson, Cheryl Wuellner, Allen Jones, Jim Hammond, Betty Lehr, and Margaret Coonfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ray and Martha; her husband Wayne in 1986; her beloved sisters, Wanda Adamson, Lillian Jones, and Lois Hammond; as well as two nieces, Martha (Jones) Shaddrick and Barbara (Hammond) Stolte;
The family wishes to express their appreciation for Hospice of Central Iowa for their support and care.
Private graveside services will be held Monday, July 11, 2016 at Oakland Cemetery in Centerville with Pastor Carol Immatteo-Code officiating. A public visitation will be held on Monday, July 11, 2016 from 1:30PM-2:30PM at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville. Memorials have been established to Life Flight, Methodist Hospital and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
